It is absolutely laughable that people on the FAQ are making claims that Steve Brown torpedoed 10,000 Volts or that he made them not want to buy the album.
First of all, the album sold what it was always going to sell - even if Eddie Kramer produced it outside of the seemingly botched job the label did with distribution with it not being available.
I am sorry to wake you from your slumber - but a new KISS album would tank today relatively speaking compared to the sales of Sonic Boom and Monster, so these people don't know what the fuck they are talking about. This isn't just an Ace Frehley thing.
Secondly, for 50 years - you have been a fan of a band with two terrible human beings leading it in Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons.
These are your heroes:
1. Barely ever told the truth and have maybe lied more than any band in music history.
2. Ripped off fans/tried to fool the fans with Psycho Circus, studio musicians, taking false credit, over promising, etc.
3. Kings of arrogance
3. Incredibly exaggerated and overhyped themselves - even despite the success they actually achieved.
4. Treated people around them like shit, including their own friends and people who worked for them.
5. Fucked over Eric Carr when he was sick and needed them the most.
So this among a ton of other reasons why you should have bailed KISS if such things bother you, however KISS die hard fans knowing all of this still said to Paul and Gene: Take My Money!!!
So people now complaining about Ace and Steve is blatant full blown embarrassing hypocrisy and the only appropriate response here would be: go fuck yourself.
The reality is unless a rock star is revealed to be a pedophile, fans don't much care what they do or say and will continue to buy albums, go see live shows and buy merch. The idea that Ace and Steve are some final straw here just makes you look stupid or you are just confirming that you have some bias against Ace like you are going to boycott him now or something because of his association with Steve.
People generally buy the things that interest them regardless of any drama surrounding it. Even when people boycotted Nike with burning their shoes or swearing off Bud Light over Dylan Mulvaney - you know what these people did next after some time passed? Bought new Nike shoes and cases of Bud Light.
KISS fans are no different - even those burned over Dubai continued to give KISS money. Hell, if Ros FINALLY came out with Magic! now - many KISS fans would give Ros more money now because they just HAVE to have anything with the KISS logo on it. Even if they were critical of Ros prior.
So Steve being arrogant or hyping himself as the next Mutt Lange is really the least possible reason to take issue with Ace Frehley or his new album - even with the things Ace has said himself that you take issue with, given the absolutely worse things that you have been perfectly fine with for decades. This has all been infinitesimal compared to the things Paul and Gene have said and done.
I couldn't care myself about such things. If I want it or it is something I have been buying all my life - I am gonna continue buying it. I don't give a shit what drama may be surrounding it. Most KISS are fans are the exact same, so the Steve Brown/10,000 Volts drama that that FAQ is drowning in currently is just moronic. You KNOW you are all being absolute hypocrites and you really should just sit down and stop talking.

Curious how they know what the Ace album has sold...outside of the first week numbers. No, it hasn't re-entered the charts, but it doesn't seem like there are a shitload of copies readily available and lying around either. If you go order it on Amazon right now, it won't be delivered almost two weeks...where other albums are readily available for delivery in a day or two. My guess is it's not 'tanking' nearly as bad as the KGC is masturbating about...
And while Brown has put his foot in his mouth...I don't think it has moved the needle either way. People that post on KISS message boards are aware. And 95% were buying or not buying regardless of what Brown has said.

Apparently Sterling didn't even know the album was being made or released if not for KISSFAQ, but Steve Brown is apparently wide spread news in mainstream media. Even if we just take first week sales number - that is better than a lot of similar artists. Deep Purple sells like 4K to 6K and they pay for Bob Ezrin to produce their albums, so that is an expense they probably don't need given the album sales they get. Paul Stanley sold less than Ace with Live To Win and Soul Station, but you don't see the endless "album is a bomb" comments from Paul and Gene sheep. |

The Black Crowes sold 9,000 in the first week. 3,500 on vinyl, 2,500 on CD and about 3,000 copies via digital download.
You would think that since this is the first album from them in 15 years - that it would get a bit of a bump out of anticipation from long time fans.
So Ace Frehley is doing better than yet another artist who are actually much more high profile than him.

I will buy the CD, I'm not saying ACE would have $old 10,000 Copies a Week or anything but with the Delay's the Record Company is going through it didn't help $ales and the Hype eh. Instead of Buying the ACE Album I went and bought a Dozen Donuts from TIM HORTONS even though the Selection sux donkey ass with only 8 different kinds or so, It made me feel better about the 10,000 VOLTS situation and best of all it made me feel Better About Myself  |

I'd probably even like it better than Anomaly had he recorded it 10 years ago when he could still sing and play at a reasonably high level in the studio, but time has clearly caught up with him. He's 72 and not a young 72... But if you can accept his quirks, it's a rather solid effort. As it is, I'd probably rank it about the same as the FC album, coming in after 78, TW, and Anomaly...

Spaceman for sure, but I do really like some songs on Space Invader. Anomaly is still king though of his more recent albums and didn't reach close to that for me or Trouble Walkin' for that matter. However I didn't expect it to at his age. 72 year old's for the most part are not making albums that people would call one of their best or competitive with albums they did in their prime. Of course there are some exceptions to the rule like the praise The Rolling Stones got for their new album. I am really let down with the new Black Crowes album and they are not 72 years old. They just didn't make a great album as many bands have done with later albums for reasons I would get into but I don't think anyone cares about the Crowes here. I am sure a new Whitesnake album would be somewhat disappointing too just with the way Coverdale chooses to make albums these days and with the people he wants to work with in my view. The window of really strong albums still being made by long time bands is closing depending on how old you are now. Someone like Butch Walker is still relatively young, so M3 can still make great music and I assume you feel like they have with their new album. Guys in their 70's though is going to be a harder sell. |

I also like the pop/punk thing...so whatever crossover they were trying to attempt, I dig that style to begin with.
