This one's for the Europe fans in the house (SCB, I'm looking at you). I've just got back into them in a big way after nearly thirty years and I'm wondering which of their guitarists is your favourite. Not the one who should be there to preserve a certain lineup, which do you like best?
I can't decide as I think both have their good points and deserve to be part of the band's history, but here are two reasons I'd pick Norum.
Besides those oh so cheesy keyboard parts, he does a much better job with this song than its writer. He plays it tastefully, with none of the pointless shredding that dogged VV's 1986 recording.
Also, is it just me or would Joey Tempest sound great singing Queen songs? Something about his voice makes me think he'd do them justice in a way no-one has since Freddie died.

Not a fan of Europe really - Joey Tempest's voice is too "clean"/lacks any edge, but John Norum. Apparently he left Europe originally, because they were getting too soft for him.
I remember digging this song at the time, which seemed to be his version of Whitesnake's Still Of The Night.

Not really a fan. I did own THE FINAL COUNTDOWN on cassette back then, and liked it okay. "Carrie" is a beautiful ballad, and there's no doubt Norum was a fantastic player. They had great hair, too. But again, never really got into them much. That could change, as my tastes are constantly changing in surprising directions.
