I read that Bruce Kulick played in Australia to a dismal crowd in a place that holds a lot more. Were you not interested in seeing him?

I would have gone, but the venue is closer to where I used to live and not easy to get to since I moved. From memory it's also not very wheelchair friendly.
Union deserved much more success than they got and might have achieved it if they signed to a label who gave a shit about them. Bruce deserves to be in a real, active band as he was in his KISS days. Grand Funk must pay well, but he's playing other people's songs from forty years ago. His solo stuff is an outlet for that, but how many people other than 80s KISS diehards get to hear it? I'd like to see him a Badlands situation where he could be the main creative force, or even in a Whitesnake/UFO type of band who would depend on him quite heavily as a co-writer.

I agree with you - Bruce deserves better. Apparently there was zero promotion for this show beyond some Facebook posts. Generally speaking, is rock dead in Australia or similar to the UK and Japan unlike America - rock music is alive and well in terms of interest. I take it Bruce likes the job security of Grand Funk vs. quitting the band and trying to make a go of it with a new band. Unfortunately I think him being in KISS has also sort of put him under the radar. I don't think people think of Bruce at all when they are looking for a new guitarist ala let's get the guy from KISS. Bruce just doesn't occur to people like say a Doug Aldrich, who seems to go from band to band and is demand. Ultimately it sucks that Tommy is in KISS and Bruce isn't if we are talking no Ace.

No doubt about that. Bruce and Eric Carr would have a lot more respect from music industry peers if they hadn't had a band like KISS around them. Eric Singer has achieved this because he had a very impressive resume before he joined. Gary Moore, for example, was a notorious perfectionist who wouldn't have put up with any sub par players in his band.

That 'tree' was the best and most tasteful guitarist KISS ever had. Ace can do Ace but so can Tommy. Bruce can play anything and play it bloody well.

Does it piss you off at all that Paul sort of dismisses Bruce in the Chris Jericho interview and slobbers all over Tommy? Paul seems to shit on people who are not in KISS at the time, but when the come back - he talks about it being magic and shit.

It's nothing I haven't heard before. Paul is simply selling the current version of KISS as the best one and seeing how many people fall for it.

The tone of his book makes it abundantly clear Paul doesn't have much respect for anyone. Bruce gets mentioned about as many times as Robinson Crusoe's wife.

It's funny how Paul used to be sort of deemed the normal one, but in recent years - he has proven to be the most fucked up even when comparing to Peter.
