The drum solo ruins Alive and should never have been included.
2004-2008, while Paul could still sing, was better and more interesting to me than 1996-2000. No issues whatsoever with Eric or Tommy.
Bob Ezrin should have pushed the band harder on Destroyer and continued working with them through the seventies.
The studio outro of Black Diamond really upset me as a kid and prevents me enjoying the song. Which is, of course, infinitely better with Mr. Carr or Mr. Singer on lead vocals.
Peter Criss sucks. Rock And Roll Over and Love Gun are awful. Is it all possible that KISS were average at best - both as songwriters and musicians no matter the era, that as much as you hate Peter Criss, he fit in with the others in the band who weren't virtuosos either?
It's not like Paul, Gene and Ace were Rush level musicians with this hack drummer.
Despite your preferences, I cannot understand how you can watch some of those early performances and not concede that they were tight and gelled together greatly.

Nope. He was always the weak link, be it 76 or 96.

Very true. Both Erics inspired the others to lift their games in ways that Peter simply wasn't capable of. Listen to Sydney or Wellington 1980, or fast forward to 2001 when Ace talked about how good a time he had on the Japanese and (most of the) Australian farewell shows.

I very rarely watch those shows. Not my KISS and not my jam. When I happen across a clip every once in a while, I look at Peter the same way Bruce Dickinson looked at Paul Di'Anno the first time he saw Iron Maiden. 'I don't understand why he's there.'

I don’t get why Peter is the problem when Paul can barely play guitar and every year his Black Diamond intro has got worse not better, and Gene’s last cool bass line was in 1978, but whatever makes you happy dude! It’s a joke band anyway, trying to have a serious discussion about the musicality of KISS is a losing proposition anyway.

Paul and Gene were good once and wrote some tremendous songs I grew up with. Peter can make no such claim. He always the dead weight and should have been kicked to the kerb after the Chinese restaurant incident.
I'm bummed that KIϟϟ didn't release anything to commemorate the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest debut albums of all time.
KOL lists 2/18 as the release date...so you can't say they didn't do anything yet.
That said, doesn't sound like they're doing a boxset, which seems like a huge miss. But getting your special 50th anniversary color vinyl will presumably happen.
I say KISS should have had PRO-SHOT Full Concerts of the LICK IT UP, ASYLUM and "North American Show" CREATURES Tour's instead of Filming multiple (sometimes 3 shows in a row) of the same Tour/City like shake it up already eh just like the setlist SHAKE IT UP baby.
