Eddie Murphy's gotta be right at the top even though he's never really went away. I was watching a DVD I'd recorded from Conan's second week on The Tonight Show the other night (for some reason I recorded every episode, apparently sensing it wouldn't last long) and while Eddie was just there to promote some awful movie nobody even remembers and Conan had apparently never met him before, he seemed to instantly get into a 'comfortable' mode that seemed like the "real" Eddie of days gone by and all I could think of while watching it is that we haven't seen this dude in ages. I think if he'd just give up on the awful movies for a minute and go back to standup or sketch comedy he could completely atone himself for the past 20 years.
And on a similar note, where have you gone, Dave Chappelle-io, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you. Woo-hoo-hoo. All is forgiven, Dave. Come back, dammit!

Funny, I was only talking about EM to some friends just yesterday. If Beverly Hills Cop 4 (which apparently is filming?) turns out to be as good as the first it could put him back on the map.

Yeah, BHC4 could potentially work, especially since all it really has to do is be better than BHC3, which won't be hard. (Though for the record I actually kinda like part 3, it just sort of seems like it started as a completely different movie and then they decided to apply the BHC name to it.) It definitely seems to me like Eddie still can be the hilarious guy he used to be if he put his mind to it, and since he's been talking about trying stand-up again over the past couple years it gives me hope that maybe there's still something there and he knows he's just been collecting paychecks for crap for quite a while...but on the other hand, he's yet to follow through on that promise, so maybe he's not too sure of himself anymore either.

They've been teasing Beverly Hills Cop 4 ever since 3 was a bust. I dunno if it's actually being made, but if it is I hope they go back to the R rated comedy style they were before.

Oh, no doubt he's aware. Problem with Eddie is after The Nutty Professor he continued making diatribe movies. The roles then ran dry so turned to making kiddie films - and they looked terrible too. I'd like to see him back making funny films. Here's hoping.

Yeah, I miss Keaton too - where the fuck did he go? The last thing I think I saw him in was Jackie Brown all the way back in '97. I know he did that White Noise movie, but that's one of those movies that I actually own on (pirated - shhh) DVD and still haven't ever watched since I heard it wasn't very good. Has he done anything of note since then?

All three of you must watch The Other Guys right away! I was confusing this with another movie, but I actually did see some of this and now I remember Keaton's role. What I did see was funny enough, guess I oughta try watching all the way through.

Oh my god, when he starts ballet dancing I almost pissed myself as to WHY he learned to do it. You've seriously got to watch it dude!

All three of you must watch The Other Guys right away! I mean Keaton when he was the lead like Clean And Sober or at least part of a cool ensemble like Jackie Brown or Out Of Sight.

He was incredible in Clean and Sober, would love to see him in a similar role now, he's just such a convincing cokehead!

He has retired as opposed to no one wanting to hire him.

Who knew Welcome to Mooseport (I thought it was a good film but most don't agree with me) would be the end of such an illustrious career?

Whatever happened to Rick Moranis? I think he voluntarily retired and has no interest in doing anything else.

That's who I was going to say too. I agree with Eddie Murphy as well....would love to see the old Eddie return. Wouldn't mind seeing Gene Hackman come back for another film or two.

According to reports he's agreed to do Ghostbusters 3 if they make it with the original cast. Also he's been retired since Honey part 3 because of the death of his wife. He decided being a dad was more important to him then being famous. I not only respect that, I wish I could say I had the strength to not go with fame first.

kevin mcdonald from 'kids in the hall'......i wouldn't call it a "comeback" per se since his career has never really blown up since KITH ended, but the guy deserved more than bit pieces on sitcoms or the occasional role in a crappy movie.
