I've lately been addicted to Bentley Little and Richard Laymon, two great authors that write like it's a movie... A most utterly fucked up movie. What's your favourite Laymon stuff?

I'm pretty partial to the beast house series.

I liked The Cellar but I thought the rest of the series wasn't so good. I couldn't get through The Midnight Tour. I think he was hit and miss and padded out some of his novels with too much romantic subplots. Books like Funland and Midnight Tour suffered from that. When he was good though, he was great, as long as you go into his stuff knowing what to expect. Homeless people portrayed as cannibals, everyone is sex crazed and the word "rump" is repeated constantly as a kind of inside joke. I really liked: The Woods are Dark Midnight's Lair The Cellar In the Dark Night in the Lonesome October You can get great collections of Laymon books from Amazon UK. They come as omnibuses of 2 or 3 novels and are cheaper than the individual novels. Very nicely presented too. www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=richard+laymon+collection&x=0&y=0

I have every American printed novel, he's fantastic for the most part. Have you read any Edward Lee? I picked up Flesh Gothic on a whim. Pretty good

Murder mysteries. I don't read all that much. It's embarrassing to admit.

Rover reading is a hobby that's dying out sadly, so you're not alone!

Flesh Gothic is good and it's one of his more mainstream novels. He also does really extreme grossout comedy horror. The Minotauress, The Bighead, The Pig, The Refrigerator Full of Sperm, The House and Header 2 are favourites off the top of my head. If you haven't read his extreme stuff I recommend it. His collections, Bullet Through the Face and Brain Cheese Buffet are great too.

Rover reading is a hobby that's dying out sadly, so you're not alone! Sadly that's no excuse. I'm a bit ashamed I don't take more time to do so. I get ensconced in rock bios and shit like that when I do, so not even quality reading. LOL. Isis, on the other hand, is a sponge and I believe that shows. I do have books with letters and essays by E.B. White which I read frequently, however, for whatever that's worth. I love his writing.

Oh and City Infernal and it's sequels are good as well. I didn't much like City Infernal so I never bothered with the sequels. I'm really into his hardcore stuff, as I said. I still like his less extreme novels but I don't get a hard on for them as much as the crazy shit he writes. He's working on Header 3 right now, which should be a hoot.

LOL I literally just bought a book on Hendrix to add to the pile of books I have not yet read. Also bought a kid's book for my nephew. I can't help buying stuff for the little guy.

Yeah, add me to the "lapsed readers" list too. I used to read a lot, but I just don't bother these days. I'll still eat up any kind of music bios and pop-culture history stuff I can get my hands on (hell, I went through a book about the rise and fall of WCW wrestling a couple months ago within a single night even though I never really gave a damn about wrestling), but for some reason I have a hard time sitting down to read fiction anymore.
Jeez, I'd even love to read that damn "The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley" book written by 'Jesse' mentioned on that stupid website if I could find the thing without paying for it, heh.
