I have never liked schilling for MYSELF but I am somewhat proud of our demo recording. But responses from people I know are too biased so I thought I'd let people with varied interests and tastes listen. I did just read a thread about modern metal becoming a joke. Hopefully you're all laughing with us and not at us! HA Anyway it is modern Hard Rock Metal. If you think it sucks, no worries, but I would ask that the criticism be constructive. Telling someone they suck is really no help at all. Follow the link below. Thank you! www.reverbnation.com/thirion

I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but as the resident "metal guy" I'll give a listen when the old lady isn't around.

I am not into this kind of music, but I have to say that I thought it was good.
How did you hear about this forum?

I would much rather hear this on the radio, it's not 100% my bag (I'm into the more extreme metal part of modern metal) but this is quality. Vocals aren't as pussified as most modern metal mainstream acts (I presume you won't be doing your best to put audiences off like I have ) and in fact when you do the more "heavy" vocals I see shades of someone who's influenced by bands like In Flames and the Gothenburg scene (WAY WORSE influences to be had BTW, so I'm not complaining about your vocals at all, in fact I myself am moving into that more accessible genre vocally.) Musicwise you can tell the core rhythm section has been working together awhile, that means a LOT! Without that core groove you guys have you'd have zero chance on the radio. As it is, I think you could at least move to regional radio with little trouble, if not even onto "trivium" style mainstream success. Basically, you're on a path musically that I'd not be ashamed to sing along with on the radio, and that means a lot from your local metal nazi.

Oh, and fucking welcome dude. We need more people who don't think metal died when Nirvana got the number 1 cd in the land around these parts.

Thanks everyone. Truly truly appreciate hearing the feedback.
To Hey Man: -Thanks again. I found the forum when I was looking for a forum that discussed music but wasn't necessarily genre specific. I can't deny my motivation was to do what I did here and get a pulse from varied sources. As well as maybe find some cool individuals to discuss music and what not with. To Cducharme: -Also thank you. I was nearly all Death Metal as a teen, listening to the originators of the genre. As I grew up though my interests got much more varied. Met a great group of musicians who like HEAVY but do not want to be so abrasive that they cut out the possibility of mainstream success. They let me get some growls and screams in there every once in a while. Maybe a bit friendlier than I am used to but we really play well together. To R&ROVER: -Very much appreciate you doing that. We're a young band (been together less than a year) just trying to make a name. Starting to make some waves in the Spokane scene! To I'm Almost Human: -Thanks for the feedback. And the welcome to the board. I can tell it's got good people mingling because I'm sure that any criticism would be done tactfully and not just being a dick for the sake of. Again thank you all for taking the time. If any of you have some music you would like to share I would LOVE to check it out too!

I have no problem with you whoring out your band here - you did it the right way as opposed to putting up a link to a website where we can buy your CD and then we never hear from you...until your next CD comes out. ;D
I hope you dig the people here and the discussion.

Odin, nothing wrong with what your doing at all. I've listened to the tracks again (this time sober) definitely a good mix of styles vocally, even if HM and co would say the growls/screams are unlistenable

Oh I love the growl and the scream but try to save them for the right moments, but I definitely understand when people are turned off by them. That said, I love great vocals that are sung beautifully. Freddie Mercury, Gene Pitney, Bruce Dickinson, Roy Orbison, and the list goes on. Certain talent is undeniable regardless of taste! Thank you all for the welcome. Like the people here already! XD I'll have to take a look around for some good discussion on something that's not all about me!!HA
Wolfman let me know what you think. Love the feedback.

You all sold me by being cool welcoming people. I have always hated joining forums because of the attitude I would get from "pillars." You all have been cool as shit and I appreciate that. battle.rockstaruproar.com/u/ThirionIf ya'll feel like it you can vote for us. Love the support! ;D

Not my thing at all, so no comment. Though I gotta say the name Odin brings up nothing but laughter as it reminds of Decline & Fall Of Western Civilization II... ;D I vaguely remember"Decline & Fall Of Western Civilization II." Good ol' Odin HA (not my scene at all either!). Well in all seriousness Odin is my birth name. My daddy was a bit odd and loved the idea of having a son named Odin... I am a bit curious what your scene is? Chances are I like a lot of what you like. The decision to make the style we make is something I'm sure we'd not be able to reconcile but I still I enjoy so much that is NOTHING like what I play.

I'm open to anything that's good. Some people (not LED necessarily) seem to have an ingrained aversion to anything past a certain point, almost regardless. If the singer isn't 60 years old, fuck him. LOL

Late to the party as usual, but have just listened to Awaken and will recommend it to a friend who's very into Disturbed. I think she'll enjoy your music quite a bit.
Also, and I'd be very surprised if I'm the first to mention this, have you considered a name change? It wouldn't be hard for people to confuse your band with Therion, although they're a very different style.

Awesome thanks Steve. Surely appreciate you spreading the word!! The name thing is something we are very concerned about. At we first we didn't realize Therion was actually a pretty big band who has been around a long time. They've payed their dues and i'm not really wanting to mess around with the issues that could come up. We're trying to think of a way to alter it without a complete change because it's a bit odd to make the change at this stage of the game, but it will change. Thanks again! \M/

Thanks again! \M/ Best to just bite down and change it now. Friend of mine was in a band called Cornbread and they were forced by Korn's management to change the name. Not worth the hassle... I somehow doubt this will happen, Therion stole their name from the Celtic Frost song/album To Mega Therion in the first place. Besides, if you just accentuate the first I in a logo they'll be alright as far as differentiation.

Thanks for everyone who's taking a listen. Trust me it doesn't go unappreciated!!
As for the name... We're planning on changing it a bit. how much though still remains to be decided. I assume that Therion did, as mentioned, steal their name from the Celtic Frost song/album To Mega Therion. But as LED stated, there's a bit of a difference when using a song title as a band name as opposed to band name to band name. In the end we know that it's going to change. How much it will change is the real question. Looking into the legality of it and how much it would have to change to be a non-issue. We've already had a lot of confusion with people trying to look up our music and going to the Therion site thinking it's us at first. We noticed that we had a few people who liked us on Facebook also liked the Therion page too. HA Too many for it to be a coincidence. I'll let you all know when and what we decide to change. Thanks again everyone!!
