With TIFF coming up, does anyone here attend any of the many film festivals that go on each year all over the world. Some of the more popular ones are:
Sundance Slamdance TIFF Tribeca Cannes SXSW

Id love to go to one oftje bigger ones. I went to the San Jose film festival cinequest, I think it's called, a few years ago and had a fantastic time. We have a tiny one in Asheville but it seems like we are always out of town that weekend. This year I'm hoping to hit it.

I think it'd be fun. Would get tired of the movie snobs though (of course Shaner always accused me of being a movie snob simply because I realized America isn't the only country with a film industry.) No reason a person can't enjoy both Godard's Breathless and Stallone's Cobra. I'll take a room full of movie snobs over a room full of people checking game scores on their cell phones during the movie ANY day!

I'll take a room full of movie snobs over a room full of people checking game scores on their cell phones during the movie ANY day! So you've gone to the movies in Los Angeles then? Always get the urge to throw popcorn at people that do that shit. Or fuckers who take infants to adult movies and when they inevitably cry their eyes out think it makes it ok if they just move out and stand in the fucking aisle with the screaming baby. Thankfully we have the Arclight which doesn't tolerate talking, cell phones, anything like that, but it costs more $$$. The way movies seem to be out on video within weeks of leaving the theaters these days I very rarely go to the movies anymore. I don't get why you would pay to see a movie and then spent the entire time dealing with a kid or on your phone. That's just stupid! I go to the movies every couple of weeks but judging by the audiences I tend to see movies with, I apparently have the movie habit of a senior citizen. I'm often easily 25 years younger than everyone else in the movie. Occasionally we hit the theater for something "mainstream" but I'm so annoyed by those audiences that unless John has to see it on the big screen I'm inclined to skip it until the dvd comes out and settle in with a great art house film instead (ok that sounded kinda snobby but wasn't intended that way)

FYI, I never said you were a snob, I just said you don't like movies without subtitles....so THERE!!! I feel so violated.....

Yay, Shaner has arrived! I thought you were against coming over here, would have personally invited you. I think everyone knows the whole subtitle thing is a long running joke on the faq. What joke???

Lands End is very pretentious and snobby when it comes to film, now that Shaner mentions it. But I prefer pretentious and snobby film enthusiasts over what the general public thinks is a great film.
