I am sure we have done this topic before, but here we go again.
What movie did you once love but have recently found does not hold up well over time?
Here are a few I have seen recently and have been sorely disappointed:
A Fish Called Wanda: Yeah...this is almost blasphemy. But I have wanted my wife to see this forever and we finally sat down to watch it not long ago. While the story is still brilliant, that damn 80's electro-pop shit they have playing in the background is just fingers on chalkboard annoying. I just could not get past the lame music. They need to take this movie and replace all that shit with some real music then this movie would once again be relevant. I was so disappointed.
Silverado: Here is a movie that I loved 30 years ago (has it really been 30 years?? fuck me). Saw this recently and was so let down. There is so much cheese in this movie I nearly got constipated just watching it. I love Kevin Klein and was looking for him to shine here...but no...no one shines in this movie now.
Pretty much any Arnold movie from the 1980s. I used to think Running Man was the shit...and yeah, it is really just shit now. Same with Commando and many others. I have not watched Predator in years and I am scared too. I don't want that movie ruined with age.
Same with Tombstone...I don't want to watch it as I loved the movie. I wonder if it has aged well?
What about you guys? What movies have not aged well for you?

Many 80s flicks have aged poorly to me (aesthetically the era is abhorrent), much like a portion of 80s music. I'll have to ponder this some....
Most choices would come from this decade for me.

I don't have many of these I guess. When I look at one of those 80s Arnold movies or something like that, I already know I'm not going to think it's as awesome as I did when I was a kid, so I guess I just enjoy them still for the stupid, ridiculous crap they are - because they always were stupid, ridiculous crap, we just didn't see it. But yeah, I can't think off my head of anything I thought was just a great movie and then totally didn't enjoy at all anymore. There's certainly a bunch of stuff I like less now than I did then, but I guess I can always still squint whatever it was that made me like them once in them.

Yeah, there's a reason I like what I like. That's the fact that I liked it

Same with Tombstone...I don't want to watch it as I loved the movie. I wonder if it has aged well? I used to love Tombstone but last time I caught it on TV I was shocked how badly it had aged. Looked like a TV movie in the scenes I caught.

I'm pretty much the same.......and the same with music. Yup. If I like something, if I ever liked something, whatever was there initially is still there today. I'm not like Dan where several years down the line I reject everything I enjoyed when I was younger. Several years - try months. We used to talk all the time about all these hard rock bands and then one day he said he wasn't into that stuff anymore.

Still, not everything ages well. At age 9 I loved The Incredible Hulk TV show and while stopping on an episode today plucks a nostalgic string, that doesn't make it resonant or even good. By contrast other things thst I liked not nearly as well (like All In The Family) still play very well to me today (better than I remember). That same applies to music. I can still listen to the Nelson debut, but I can't remember the last time I heard it or if and when I'll desire to listen to again.
