What is a TV show that you were so looking forward to but ended up very let down in the end? I was thinking about this as most of us were looking forward to Better Call Saul, and the show is really delivering.
Here are a couple for me:
V I was so looking forward to V. The original TV mini-series was fun and I just knew that it would translate well into our modern special effects world. Plus it had the hot chick from Firefly! WRONG. The story just did not go anywhere and the goofy son just ruined the show. I stayed with it to the end, but they rushed an ending and tried to tie everything up, which really left more questions unanswered than answered. Worst Part: Probably the kid. He just could not act. They could have put a monkey in that role and done a better job. Almost as irritating as Carl on The Walking Dead...but at least the kid who plays Carl can act.
Heroes Another show that I was so looking forward to...and the first season actually kind of delivered. Then it went to Hell in a hand basket. Horn Rimmed Glasses guy is a bad guy, no he is a good guy, no he is a bad guy, who gives a fuck anymore. Sylar is good, bad, good, bad...whatever. They also wasted Robert Forrester on this show. A great actor in such a lousy TV series. Every season just kept getting worse and worse. Again,I stuck with it until the end because of the time I have invested in the show, but it was just laughable. Worst Part: I think it may have been season two...but they were leading up to the totally epic battle between Peter and Sylar. The guys finally fight it out in a HUGE battle...but it is done behind a closed door and all we can see are lights flashing under the door and sound effects. Pathetic.

Torchwood. I put myself through nine episodes of this and liked two. I couldn't take any more.
I hated all the characters and the so-called 'adult' writing felt more like a bunch of drunken teenagers sniggering over Dad's copy of Penthouse.

She really liked that show. For me Constantine. It just never really jelled and seemed hokey.

I LOVED the original V and was looking forward to the new show, but it just didn't seem like V - I guess I wanted some of the old cast and other factors from the original show, but I know that Diana returned.

Pretty much every post Lost show (Fringe being the notable exception) that went down the mystery/sci-fi route. Some of them looked like they had promise, but they all sucked. God how I miss Fringe. What an awesome show that was. Perfect cast, great story for each episode...and overall arching story as well.

If you enjoy Sci-Fi with a bit of X-Files type stuff thrown in, you will love it. Do NOT read any spoilers or anything. The show is a very enjoyable and a wild ride.

Usually I'll wait until a show is already out before I get excited for it. The Strain is the only one I can think of. Piss poor writing all around.

I always seem to come across TV shows well after they air. I can't think of anything I actively anticipated.. The only show I ever followed during it's run was Kenny vs. Spenny.

Ren & Stimpy's Adult Party Cartoon was a huge letdown. Finally, after all these years, John K. had creative control over his creation again - no more Nickelodeon censors breathing down his back, here's the chance to recapture the greatness of the early years of Ren & Stimpy before Kricfalusi was fired from his own show! This should be good!
...But no. It is not good. At all. It's as if being bottled up all those years just led him to trot out a bunch of scripts that looked like they were just created years before for no reason than to piss off Nick by being as juvenile and stereotypically "dirty" as possible. It's like it was terrible R&S fan fiction written by a disturbed 12-year-old. The characters are gay lovers now, because of course they are, and we get loads of sex and blood and scatological jokes that never land and that's about it. Makes Family Guy look refined and sophisticated. Fortunately it only lasted for six episodes and three of them never even aired in the US.

Most recently, 'battle creek'. Touted as a new creation by Vince Gilligan, turned out it was a show he pitched almost 15 years ago, and CBS was trying to bait viewers by name-dropping him. His current involvement is non-existent, and it's pretty obvious. Shame, because the show had an interesting premise & some decent actors....unfortunately, it's execution is your typical CBS police procedural TV show...
