Some quotes from the interview: "The whole Sammy/Michael thing... I love Mike. He's an underrated bass player in a band with two virtuosos. Even Alex gets overshadowed by Eddie." On Michael Anthony needing to be shown how to play by Eddie Van Halen: "There was never a video camera and Michael played on VH III. Michael was a rock on the VH 3 tour." On the second (yet unreleased) Gary Cherone - Van Halen album: "Patrick Leonard (Madonna's songwriter) came up to 5150 and we wrote a couple of songs with him, but most of the demos were just me and Eddie. The two songs were did with him (Patrick Leonard) were actually really good. There was some real good stuff." Nice that Gary also acknowledged Eddie's bullshit.

You've been tough on Ed lately....but you've been leaving Paul alone, which is good...lol You should treat Eddie with more respect. He is a true legend. He's the last great guitar hero and he turned his life around after years of drug and alcohol abuse. Yet if he wrote sub par songs about getting electrocuted or a girl on a sub marine and played and sang terrible you would call him icon, no ?

Unfortunately Eddie lost my respect when he fired Sammy and all this bullshit, which still continues to this day. I will always dig him as a musician though. Let's be honest though - Kotzen can do what Eddie can do in his sleep. Eddie was an innovator, but there is nothing special about him now.

I really enjoy Ed and Al's playing, especially from the 90's on but I would love to see them working with a a guy they can relate to vocally or a project record with multiple singers. Most fans what what they want with little room to bend, so....we get more DLR. lol

Just like Coverdale/Page was incredible.
