Well, that was a headfuck of a film. A bit too long at two and a half hours, but I can think of worse ways to spend an afternoon. Think of a mashup between The Prisoner and The Case Of Charles Dexter Ward as directed by a young Cronenberg.

Think of a mashup between The Prisoner and The Case Of Charles Dexter Ward as directed by a young Cronenberg. It died pretty quickly in North American theatres - seemed to be TOO weird for audiences. How often do you go to the movies?

How often do you go to the movies? Not as often as I'd like but I'm trying to make more effort to go from now on. Three times this year so far, so that averages out to once a month. I like the Palace Cinema in town because I know my way around. Gold Class is probably closer to home, but it's in an awful shopping centre and I always get lost. I'm very happy to go on my own because I don't think of a movie as a social gathering. I got a huge group together to see Batman Begins (the best of Nolan's Bat trilogy) in 2005 and within ten minutes I was ready to murder everyone. If it gets a local release, this is next on my list. Let's hope the hordes of Game Of Thrones fans will flock to see Emiia Clarke.

Do you like Australian movies? I dug a ton of them in the 90's and there are some good recent ones.
So you don't go to the blockbusters - comic book movies and the like?

I like Australian movies about as much as I like Australian anything, though I do make one exception. This was hilarious because it takes obvious cues from Monty Python.
I like comic book movies when I get around to them and really dug Dr Strange, but there are so many to keep up with. I'd be a lot more jazzed about Spiderman: Homecoming if it were more Spidey and less Iron Man/Avengers. Does everything Marvel have to be an ensemble piece now? The ol' web slinger has been my favourite superhero since I was a kid and he works best on his own.

Er, no. Yahoo Serious was very much a one hit wonder.

Er, no. Yahoo Serious was very much a one hit wonder. Do your friends share your taste in movies or that's why you don't mind going alone - because you don't want to see what they want to see and vice versa?

Now and again I will drag someone along if they're free and interested in what we're going to see. Most of the time it's easiest to shrug my shoulders and go solo. Because I have writer brain, it's not often I respond to something on a surface level. Much as I hated Life and could barely keep my eyes open, I could rave at you for hours about how to improve the story and turn it into something more memorable. Anyone else would just say 'well, that sucked' and suggest we go for a burger. I saw Split with an old friend because I hadn't caught up with her since I moved. Her idea and, while I'm no fan of M Night Shamalamadingdong, the story intrigued me because he lifted most of it from The Minds Of Billy Milligan.

Seems like an Alien rip off of sorts. How about those Fifty Shades movies?

How about those Fifty Shades movies? There are movies of that shit now? Good Lord deliver us... I saw Life yesterday (see other thread). Total waste of time and money after such a good trailer, and who's going to believe you can get wi-fi coverage in space?
