When you consider the cost of going to the movies, popcorn, parking, paying the babysitter if you need one - would you pay 50 bucks+ for new release theatrical films like The Last Jedi or Guardians 2 if you could watch it at home on the same day as the theatrical release day?
What would be the most you would be willing to pay for a major event film to be able to enjoy it in the comfort of your home or is it still all about the theatre for you and the convenience of release date theatrical movies won't change that?
For me, it would be a case by case basis. I would be quite content to watch some franchises at home and some I would want to see in the theatre.
How about you?

I like the cinema experience and find I look forward to and prioritise it more than watching something at home. Get Out is top of my to-see list at the moment. Hope I'll get around to it next week.

This is why I go during the day when I don't have classes. No daters, screaming kids or cosplayers . Usually during those sessions it's just me and a handful of others, even during opening week.

Some movies I can already get HDrips for a movie not too far from release (enjoyed kong have get out but haven't watched yet) but stuff like Rogue One took almost until Blu Ray release for a decent quality rip so I'd be happy for people to pay whatever so I can get them HDrips much sooner.

My first reaction was no. $50 and up?
Then I thought...make it a party. That would be worth it. A lot of people have state of the art entertainment systems.

When this does happen and it will, it would not be $20. $50 bucks has already been the suggested price, which is a steal when you consider the other expenses mentioned in my original post + dinner if you do that as well. Some movie nights are well over $100 dollars with all expenses added. 50 bucks to avoid a crazy lineup to see the new Star Wars on opening day assuming tickets are not sold out. Seems like a great deal. Plus you can watch the movie in your underwear.

Uh! Maybe at times because sometimes you have no other option. I can do anything to watch a good movie or show. I have been watching series by Andy Yeatman on Netflix and it would kill me if the login ever created a problem. I am having a good time watching these shows now days.
