Wow, glad to see this thread or I'd have totally missed it. Seems like a shorter-than-normal break for the show. (Though I still wish they'd go back to a daily "Politically Incorrect" type format. Surely HBO could afford it.)

I think it will be a good one - Louis CK is on and he is just insanely funny. I think he's the best comedian working today.

Sort of out of nowhere here, but does anyone else sense that Maher seems to have some kind of chip on his shoulder when it comes to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert?
I just find it utterly bizarre that neither have ever appeared on RT, and he almost seems to go out of his way not to mention them even when various pieces of theirs have been making the rounds on virtually every other media outlet. Bill did appear on The Daily Show back when he was promoting his movie, but even there he seemed a little "cool" towards Jon.
I'm sure part of it just accountable to the fact that the Comedy Central shows are based in NYC and Maher's in L.A., but it still seems like a strange rivalry exists on Bill's side that's never spoken about by anyone. I'd love to see Stewart on the panel especially.

hmmm, never thought about it, but it IS strange that neither stewart or colbert has been on his show. then again, there was supposed to be a feud between stewart & conan o'brien at one time as well.....eventually they appeared on each others' shows & mocked the "rivalry" they supposedly had, in fact devoting an entire week of it on 'the daily show'....
pretty good show tonight, although it made me nervous about who the republican frontrunners supposedly are these days. bill maher said it best when talking about rick perry....he should just stop the runaround & admit he'd support slavery, hence solving the "creating jobs" dilemma....
noticed michael moore & tom morello is on next week....

i don't know where anyone else stands on him, but i fucking can't stand p.j. o'rourke. you could see the bile in alan grayson's throat starting to rise when he had to listen to him, and it was satisfying to watch him hand o'rourkes ass to him on a platter....

I agree - he seems to ruin the conversation whenever he goes on. I also hate when Maher has Richard Belzer on. He won't let anyone else talk.

agree! belzer never shuts up, and he's disrespectful as hell to guests who aren't on his page. i actually agree with some of his opinions, but he shouldn't be anything but an opening segment guest.....
o'rourke sounds like a rambling barfly during last call....he's not funny, and he wastes valuable time.

I don't mind PJ (or Belzer), but I agree with all of the above. I think PJ can be entertaining when it's a subject dear to his heart that he's truly passionate about, but those moments are rare. I got a kick out of him back when he was promoting his book about American car culture on The Daily Show a few years ago. Jon had a good rapport with him...but when PJ plugged the same book on Real Time, Bill's disinterest (and borderline mockery) of the subject made for more of the "Embarrassing Uncle PJ, Trying to Get a Laugh" routine.
I find Belz to be an interesting, funny guy...but he can get just a wee bit too up his own ass on shows like this.

Great show last night, enjoyed it more than last week's premiere. A little surprised and disappointed that Bill seems to support SOPA, though. If he really thinks piracy is the reason Religulous didn't do gangbusters at the box office he's probably both overestimating its/his appeal and apparently forgetting that it never really went into wide release. I'd have gladly seen it in the theaters, but it never came anywhere around here.

Also, I notice Bill is still doing everything he can to avoid mentioning Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Literally every other single news/debate program has been having a field day with all the SuperPAC shenanigans, but I don't think he's said a word about it this week or last.

Yes, I am a little surprised by Maher's opinion on SOPA, even though he admitted to not reading it or not knowing a whole lot about it. He just saw it as money being taken out of his pocket when it came to Religulous. I find it amazing how many people in film and music I know - WANT people to steal their stuff. I mean sure they want to make money, but when you are trying to fight major entertainment companies for a little exposure, it's hard to get noticed these days if you are an independent artist. So if someone can be discovered through file sharing, they see that as a good thing.

I watch him Friday nights on CNN. Last night he had Ann Coulter and Van Jones as guests.
