Since we live in a world now of people fighting over their "team" to the death and we can't seem to agree to disagree anymore - be it with political or social views, has anyone here lost friends or fight with family for the views you have? If so - what was the issue?
Examples would be people who actually do believe the election was stolen or Covid was a hoax. That sort of thing. Generally heated topics.
I would assume that your friends are likeminded, but I am often seeing people post these days that someone they have known forever has stopped talking to them, because of Trump or something and that was enough to ruin a friendship. Same with family.
The answer would be no from me, because again - I live in Canada, so we just have a different perspective to things than many Americans do. Trump is hated here for the most part. We took Covid seriously, etc.

Suffice to say we are really no longer exactly friends.

The actual real falling out came much later. He actually did convince his bestie to move to Oregon saying he'd catch up with him on the mountain top later.

My family is *very* divided over certain subjects, mainly Trump and COVID. Things have gotten so bad, my dad doesn't even speak to his brothers anymore. It's one of the main reasons why I don't talk politics with most people.
I'm at odds with a lot of folks over the subject of guns. I support gun rights, mainly because I'm from a city where our police force ranges from mediocre to downright incompetent and corrupt. For many of us, calling the police simply isn't an option. That's why I carry. Meanwhile I've got relatives who live in gated communities out in New England where crime is nonexistent, talking about how "nobody needs a gun." Speak for yourself.

This all took place well over 10 years ago.

I lost a fair few friends over the idea that if a candidate lost a popular vote by over 3 million votes, they have no mandate and shouldn't be president.
I stand by that.

Should mention, that was in a time when I couldn't ever keep my mouth shut, so i don't blame anyone in that time for cutting ties. Wife said many times then that I was obsessed.

Well politics can do that. It seems people now more than ever are vocal politically/socially and they can have deal breakers when it comes to certain things. I probably couldn't talk to a friend anymore if he actually STILL believed the election was stolen for example. In some cases, people are probably better off when they realize certain friends are crazy and it is better to just go your separate ways.

I should add that my own wife told me that if I liked Trump, she would have to leave me and she wasn't kidding.

You always have Gruno. Do you still talk to him? No he disappeared. He had problems. Much Too Soon on the FAQ thought I was you when he was reading this forum, so this should be interesting. Then again he thinks half of the FAQ is actually me with multiple user names.

He once laughably tried to point out that he didn't troll you or have it in for you by saying he only averages 2 posts a day. He's like 'how likely is it that I trolled the dude when I only average 2 posts a day'. Fuckin moron.

I believe this is when he was convinced I was Vandelay.

Yes. I've lost lots of friends over the hoax called Covid, and I don't care. The worst was My best man. We've known each other 38 years. We met in '85 at school aged 13. We did everything together. In 2021, I went down to see my Dad 2 states away. My best man lived in a town 2 hrs away from my Dad. We had organised he was going to get me from the railway station, after I get off the bus. My plane was a 3 hr trip. The bus was a 2 hr trip. 10 minutes before I arrive at the station, he texts me and says "Brett, we can't pick you up, and you can't stay either. Our son, 7 has a doctor appointment in the morning and we can't have anybody who has been interstate in our house tonight ". I said "You have to be kidding, I'm 10 minutes away ". He said "I'm really sorry. We just can't risk it, covid is still around, we don't know where you've been or come from and we simply can't take the risk. You will have to find a motel for the night, or work out another way for a bed" . Now, our plan was that I stay over just the one night, then I take the bus down to see my Dad the next day. Luckily, a bus was boarding in 3 hours to go to Dads town. Dad was very unwell at this time. He had suffered 3 strokes by this time, which my mate was aware of. When I got to Dads I was in shock. Dad was gobsmacked too. My mate even messaged me to see where I was. I said I'm with Dad. He said good. We corresponded some breif moments for a few months, but things fizzled out. He knew I was very hurt, and he did wrong, but the damage was done. We can't go back. Alot of people have been put through similar ordeals. What the government has done is unforgivable. It's turned people into enemies, just heartless, gullible and I'm afraid to say...cunts!!!

Over a million Americans dead directly from it and hundreds of thousands more died. We lost my father in law, my mother, and my step dad in 2020. Ecolite, Phneaumonia and other flu symptoms went missing since 2000. Nowhere to be seen. Replaced by a one word hoax that was invented to put fear into the world and make money for our governments. The media has driven it to the ground too. I've been told this by official doctors too.
