This record store I was just about to go to should change their name to that. Luckily Google maps had my back and let me know the fuckers would be closed when I got there... How the hell do you run a profitable business where your business hours are shorter than most of your would be customers' available hours? Monday through Thursday 11 - 5. Am I supposed to stop by on my fucking lunch break? That's one thing post-Covid that's beyond fucking annoying, is places business hours are total shit for the consumer now...
To be fair, they're open Friday and Saturday 11 till a whoppin' 7pm, but FFS! Unfortunately I got a gift certificate for the place so I'm gonna have to go there. Hopefully their select is about as good as their business hours, though, because I don't want to like the place as much of a pain in the ass as it is to actually shop there... This is like the 3rd time I was thinking about going and they've been fucking closed...and I just now looked up their hours and figured out why.
Monday 11 AM–5 PM Tuesday 11 AM–5 PM Wednesday 11 AM–5 PM Thursday 11 AM–5 PM Friday 11 AM–7 PM Saturday 11 AM–7 PM Sunday Closed

Should go to 6PM at the very least, so you swing over there right after work. Perhaps they do most of their sales online with ebay, discogs, etc. So keeping a physical store open isn't as needed. You work from home though right? You couldn't pop over there at 2PM or something? I assume no one is actually monitoring you.

Spend at least a half hour there and it's a minimum hour and a half trip. I try not to take too much advantage. I could cut out a little early and hit them right before they close. Could have actually gone today after I worked an early shift today, but took a nap when I got done. I thought the dicks were open till 7 so I thought I had plenty of time.

If it was me, I probably would call the store and ask if they could stay open for a bit longer after 5PM as I am on my way and have shit I want to buy.

I went to a record store the other day and they actually had a BnB album...I almost took a pic and posted it, but didn't want to give Thayer the time it woulda took.

Finally made it to the place today. Was neither particularly good or bad. Parking is a pain in the ass, though, and their hours suck. Found one thing I wanted and another I was interested enough to use up the gift certificate and not have to go back. Their new selection was okay, but pretty much all overpriced. I can get the same shit off Scamazon for 5 bucks or better cheaper...

I picture a kid behind the counter with his parents at the ready in the back, all of them living there too with the aroma of their meals everywhere.

My local downtown record store closed in July, 2023. Was open for 52 years. You're at least still lucky to have one, even though the limited hours.

There are others, although one of the better ones also has limited hours...but it's at least open until 6p so you can get there before the shit closes after work.

Obviously you save on the shipping, but is the album price also worth it to go to an actual store vs. just buying your vinyls online? Or is this more about just wanting to look around and maybe finding something you want that you didn't have on your "albums to buy" list?

When buying new, 9 times out of 10 you're better off just buying online. The shops are good for used albums and browsing...coming across shit you might not have considered online. I'm still hunting for an original pressing of Ace 78 with the vinyl in excellent condition. My original is pretty much unplayable and aim curious to compare it to the 2014, which some claim isn't very good. I think it sounds fine, but don't have an original to compare it to. Can't find a copy that's reasonably priced online. Discogs has some copies, but the one decently priced are all overseas so after tax and shipping, it's over 40 bucks. And that's not even for a mint, complete copy...just for the record in excellent condition. I have a nice jacket and the inserts...I just need a nice, minty record.

If I have to have something - I just typically buy it. Even if it is more than I want to spend. I have spent 100 dollars on one meal at a restaurant, so if a record is 100 dollars then I say to myself what's the difference really? At least I will have the record for years to come. You should get it even if it is pricey.

You should get it even if it is pricey. If I didn't have the album multiple times over I totally would. As it is, it's more of a curiosity and somewhat a thrill of the hunt type thing. I'm not overly convinced I'll think the sound will be some massive upgrade so I'm okay to wait for it to come to me.
