Last Summer’s “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” hinted at it, and now Paramount Pictures is making it official – the G.I. Joes and the Autobots are doing a team-up movie which is being set up at the studio.
The idea is based on a storyline from the 1980s Marvel-published comics inspired by the toyline. No filmmaker is attached yet beyond Steven Spielberg who is executive producing the film.
Producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto & Don Murphy are all returning.
The two properties have previously existed as independent franchises, with seven live-action “Transformers” and three “G.I. Joe” films to date.
The announcement took place at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this morning where the first footage from the upcoming animated feature “Transformers One” was also shown off.
The film sees Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry voicing younger versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively in a time when the pair are friends and “lowly worker bots who can’t transform”. That film hits cinemas September 13th.

Both those toy lines were the shit when I was a kid, and I got pretty nostalgic for Transformers when the first movie came out and ended up collecting the toys again for several years, and still have a rather impressive (or completely dorky...or both) collection of the 'Masterpiece' line...super complex and (G1) cartoon accurate figures. All that said, this movie sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen.

I for sure had it...can't remember if I sold it or it's in storage waiting for my nephew to get a couple/few years older to receive all the shit I've lost interest in. But I have the Masterpiece version in my office still...

Tommy Thayer - because some figures stayed away from looking like Ace and Peter?
