Following Best Buy’s announcement late last year that it is phasing out selling DVDs, Blu-rays and 4K Ultra HD discs in stores and online in early 2024, Target is preparing to do the same by 2025.
Twitter account President of Physical Media reports that according to their sources, Target will stop selling physical media in-store and online by 2025.
In the wake of that posting, the retail chain has officially responded and indicates the report is only partially correct – they will continue to sell physical media but they are significantly reducing their footprint in stores as they will limit the number of copies they sell.
A spokesperson for Target tells IGN that:
“Based on our guests’ shopping patterns and broader industry trends, we’re transitioning the limited assortment of DVDs we carry in our stores to Target.com, where guests will continue to find thousands of titles. Moving forward, we’ll offer select DVDs in stores when they are newly released or during key times throughout the year when they are more popular, like for gift giving during the holidays.”
As with Best Buy, the physical media cutbacks apply only to film and television, with video games unaffected. The move leaves Walmart as the last brick-and-mortar store in the U.S. to carry a wide selection of physical media for films and TV series.
It also continues a seemingly downward spiral for the format with Netflix releasing its final DVDs to customers last year, whilst several Australian distributors for studios like Disney are no longer releasing DVDs, Blu-rays and 4K UHD titles in that market.

They have exclusive pressings...i.e. colors which sometimes is cool to acquire, but trying to find anything there...literally no method to the storage and they don't put price tags on the damned records...so good luck!!!

This Sucks Donkey even though TARGET is gone in Canada but Canada Target was Not like USA Target,
I like the Physical Product, I still Buy certain "CD's/Vinyl" but I really Love "BLU-RAY/DVD" especially for Live Concert's (Pro-Shot Is My Fav). I just hate that Vinyl is anywhere from $40-$80 per fucking record. I bet more people would buy Vinyl if it was cheaper.

My problem is I'm running out of space... My options are
1) put the albums I don't listen to in another room (already started) 2) put some albums I do listen to in another room 3) move my Unmasked poster and put in another 2x3 and hope that lasts me a little while. 4) get rid of the big ass couch 5) move and get a bigger gravy cavey

If there's a space problem, it's because this couch takes up most the damn room. It could comfortably seat 8 fucking people...

I think I have more records than Master Joma.... We have about 1300. Listening to Disc 2 of the Black Keys "El Camino" deluxe release that my family got for me right now...2 and 3 are a complete concert. That's how you do a deluxe release if you ask me!

Unless it's a new release I haven't heard, therefore don't know better, I try to avoid buying records I don't mostly like front to back...otherwise the record is just going to sit there. *Collectible albums excluded...aka some KISS albums that I buy because I think are cool and it's my hobby. But most of those don't end up in the gravy cavey.

So if you want ANY album at all, it has to be on vinyl. Not available on vinyl? You won't be listening to it on any other format. You are definitely hard core.

I can guarantee you have hobbies I find strange, too. And as long as I'm not being a douchebag scalper and hording up copies to sell to you at an inflated price, it's all good... And yes, I buy CDs the occasional CD or even MP3s. Mostly only vinyl, but if I know I don't care for half the album, I don't want the inconvenience of vinyl...

But my hobbies these days include podcasting, buying/listening to records, and wasting time. I used to be able to say that video games were a hobby of mine. Not sure if that's even true any more to be honest. Spinning Forbidden right now bhoy.

If I am dying to hear a certain album or want to have access to something - I will take it whatever format it is available on. Even not the best sounding ones. For example, there are some album that were never on CD, so the best I can do in some cases is a vinyl rip which also comes with some snap, crackles and pops. Not ideal, but better than nothing.
