Continuing on with my rant...
I love The French Connection but consider two of it's competitors to be better films, A Clockwork Orange and The Last Picture Show.
The Sting deserved it's win, but I can't believe Mean Streets and Badlands went unnominated.
Annie Hall deserved to beat Star Wars, won't get into it, LOL Close Encounters deserved a best pic nom as well.
In no way, shape or form is Kramer Vs. Kramer a better film than Apocalypse Now, and I still can't believe Manhattan wasn't nominated. Alien should have had the nom as well. Norma Rae? Fuck that.
Ordinary People, like anybody can sit through this fucking snooze fest. How it lost to Raging Bull (and Redford beat Scorsese for director too!?!) is beyond me. Look at the films that weren't nominated, Empire Strikes Back, The Shining, etc. All the other films nominated for best picture are infinitely better than Ordinary People.
Chariots Of Fire - as boring as fuck. Raiders Of The Lost Ark shoulda won. Or the frontrunner Reds.
Ghandi, great film, but Blade Runner went completely ignored, it's the far better film.
Terms Of Endearment, good movie, but Scarface wasn't up for a single major award? WTF?
Amadeus, fun movie, but the best picture that year was Once Upon A Time In America, which was ignored.
Out Of Africa. It sucks. Brazil and Ran were the two best films that year, they'd be the two best films in any year.
Love Platoon, but why wasn't Blue Velvet nominated?
Driving Miss Daisy is a piece of shit, it's a Lifetime Channel movie at best. The unnominated Do The Right Thing was hands down the best picture of the year.
Dances With Wolves is an overlong borefest. Goodfellas shoulda won, and Miller's Crossing wasn't even fuckng nominated, wtf?
Glengarry Glen Ross is better than Unforgiven, wasn't nominated, definitely shoulda been up for it's brilliant screenplay, and Jack Lemmon shoulda won an award too.
Forrest Gump is a piece of shit. Movie fucking suuuucked. Pulp Fiction or Shawshank shoulda won.
Braveheart? Seriously. Look at the other nominees, shit for the most part. What went unnominated? Se7en, 12 Monkeys, Clockers, Dead Man Walking...
The English Patient, I've yet to find a single person who's made it through it that didn't hate the film. Trainspotting was the best movie that year. Of those nominated Fargo shoulda won.
Titanic is a horrible piece of shit, it's complete garbage. LA Confidential definitely should have beaten it. Why wasn't Boogie Nights nominated??? Or the absolutely brilliant The Ice Storm?
Shakespeare In Love is fucking awful. The Thin Red Line should have beaten it, but it didn't make money. No nom for American History X as well, wtf?
I liked American Beauty but the better films that year were Three Kings and Summer Of Sam...
Chicago. I love musicals, and it's a fun film. But seriously? Over brilliant flicks like The Pianist, Gangs Of New York and The Hours?
Million Dollar Baby? Really? Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind wasn't nominated, LOL
Crash was fucking awful. Possibly the worst film to win the award since the horrible Greatest Show On Earth. I'd have gone with Munich myself, but anything was better than fucking Crash. Lots of better films that were ignored, Constant Gardener, Lord Of War...
Departed is a great film, but there were a lot better that year. Children Of Men went by unnoticed, anyone who has seen it was blown away. What about Pan's Labyrinth?
No Country For Old Men is not better than There Will Be Blood, or the unnominated Zodiac, Eastern Promises or Before The Devil Knows You're Dead
The Hurt Locker is a piece of shit. So was Avatar so don't say that should have won either. Inglorious Basterds was the best film up there.
The King's Speech. It's alright, but fluff and forgotten already. Inception was the best film up. Social Network shoulda won though. Black Swan and The Fighter were both better as well. Kids Are All Right sucked, didn't deserve any recognition.
