I don't hate Wes Anderson at all, but I'm not fond of most of his stuff. Rushmore was quite good, but most of the rest just isn't my style. I know people who go apeshit over him, though.
I second quite a few of your choices, including Ratner, Bay. I'll add Guy Ritchie (sp?) to that list. Aside from one truly great film, M. Night Shamalamdingdang's career has been a widening skid mark.

You are too hard on Stallone. I thought he did a great job with the last Rambo for what it is. My wife was actually crying in the theatre due the shots of babies getting killed and other stuff that Stallone shot to show what is happening in Burma. He went all the way and I give him credit for that. I remember the reviews for it with critics saying that Stallone went too far and it's a bloodbath movie. They were offended at the violence.
The direction on Rocky II is GREAT. Rocky III and Rocky Balboa are well directed.
I don't feel all that better that Simon West is the directing the sequel to the Expendables. Pretty much a hack.

I thought M Night was a hack when I saw The Sixth Sense. Never understood how people were so blown away.

Nothing to argue about here with any of those. I agree on Wes Anderson, I love Rushmore, the rest leaves me cold though I know they're well made films, just not for me. I'll probably meet lots of disagreement here but I'll add Sam Raimi to the list. His filmography sucks. Evil Dead was a fluke. Darkman I liked too but the rest, yuck. I'll also say George Lucas was a fluke as well, American Graffitti and THX1138 are anomalys. We've all read how his original cut of Star Wars was unwatchable and had to be taken from him and completely reworked. His last three directorial efforts speak for themselves. And let me just add Kevin fucking Smith. He has never directed anything that doesn't suck. People love Clerks, it's quotable as hell, but take the writing aside and look at it as a film and it's a horribly acted terribly shot piece of shit. Stallone can't direct either. Yes Rocky II is great, look at the rest of his filmography. Chasing Amy is an excellent film, a well balanced take on his sense of humor, charm, and warmth. Love that movie.

Gotta say it - Tim Burton. Promising career start, but can't stand his films now. Ed Wood is the best thing he ever did.

Stephen Sommers. How could he have not appeared here yet? Responsible for tons of horris CGI crap like those awful Mummy movies, that piece of shit Van Helsing and that fucking awful GI Joe movie! I figured he was a given and didn't need to be mentioned. Like Uwe Boll.
