In honor of our new member, I'd like to start a thread about your favorite extreme metal lps, be it thrash, death, black, whatever....it's all metal to me. Here is my (short and rather old school list). 1.KILL 'EM ALL-Metallica. In my estimation, this album defined a genre. Fucking brilliant from start to finish. 2.BONDED BY BLOOD-Exodus. Truly the most underrated album of the genre, and better than most of them from that or any era. This band should have been called one of the "Big 4", in my opinion, rather than Megadeth. 3.HELL AWAITS-Slayer. Everybody always touts REIGN IN BLOOD, and I do as well, but this album to me is far more extreme and raw sounding. I've always loved it. 4.SPREADING THE DISEASE-Anthrax. The most melodic of the genre, Anthrax really shined on this album. 5.KILLING IS MY BUSINESS-Megadeth. Even though I just sort of dissed Megadeth, this album is a keeper, and the only Megadeth album that sounds dangerous to my ears. 6.SEVEN CHURCHES-Possessed. Another underrated band that could have easily been one of the big four. 7.MELISSA-Mercyful Fate. Any metal fan should own this album. Chock full of great lumbering metal riffs, and Diamond's screeching vocals remind me of Rob Halford getting ass-raped by Arthur Brown. Classic. 8.DEMON ENTRAILS-HellHammer. Just recently got into this. There is something bleak and sparse about this band that is just fucking cool. 9.BLACK METAL-Venom. Oh so lovely and irreverent. Venom is actually a really fun band. 10.CASUS LUCIFERI-Abruptum. Is this even metal? It reminds me of old Skinny Puppy, which is to say, I like the soundscapes. Anyway. I tried, Demon.

Testament is the best Thrash-y band not named Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, or Anthrax.
And, honestly, I like them a lot more than Slayer...
The last two Testament albums are fantastic (The Gathering and The Formation Of Damnation).

I love PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH, but you are correct the last two albums were significantly good.

Demon, I have a trivia question. Do you know what their band name was before Testament? And don't Google it.
