For the most part. Couple of cool nostalgia scenes, but that's about it.
Who agrees with me?

I thought it would be dogshit and I was ready to hate it because I let the special editions and prequels ruin Star Wars for me, but I really enjoyed it.

Do you like the new Star Trek films? My wife and I went to see Force Awakens in the theatre and while seeing Han Solo and other past Star Wars stuff was cool - we walked out thinking that the movie was not good with countless problems. And holy shit - Adam Driver was totally miscast. I suspect it's really just an Abrams thing and I will dig the Star Wars films by the other directors.

I haven't seen the new Trek films. I am so not into that series.
In the years between the end of proper Doctor Who (1989) and the start of The X-Files (1993), my friends would host video nights and we'd all watch Trek (original series, movies and TNG) because there was nothing else around. The whole experience made me want to claw my own face off in total boredom and frustration.
I'll concede Wrath Of Khan is a good film and a great piece of storytelling. I can't give it any more credit than that because I don't give a shit about that world or any of its characters.
As for Star Wars, my reaction to it was the same as most KISS fans' to the early days of the reunion. Hearing that theme music triggers a major endorphin rush and the film that followed was a warm, fuzzy nostalgia trip from beginning to end. I even cried, because here was something I watched and enjoyed countless times with my family as a kid brought to life again by someone who cared about it as much as I did.

I can totally appreciate that. Even though I really enjoy Star Wars - it wasn't really my thing growing up compared to most people. Superman The Movie and the Rocky series were my Star Wars so to speak. Oh I thought you liked Star Trek - the old one at least as more intellectual sci-fi compared to sci-fi that is more about the action. I guess Dr. Who and Star Trek is not your idea of paradise.

Blakes' 7 is good intellectual sci fi. The first season from 1978 is the best thing its writer (Terry Nation) ever did.
I'm not sure how ell known it is in Canada or the US. It was huge in the UK and had a big following in Australia.

Saw Force awakens in January at the theatre. Thought it was a good movie. Sad to see Hans solo killed, but it was a good seen. I give the movie 4/5 stars.
