Ive been on a massive WS kick in recent days, while keeping low at home. I love all eras. I won't include Dave's solo work or his Deep purple albums.
1. Slide it in 2 Slip of the tongue 3. 1987 4. Come and get it 5. Ready an' Willing 6. Good to be bad 7. Forevermore 8 Saints and sinners 9 Trouble 10 Love Hunter 11 Flesh and blood 12 Restless heart

Cool, but surprised that you have have Slip Of The Tongue so high. Having said that, there are some stuff I love on the album, but the production and Vai being the wrong guitarist for the band just kind of makes the album a mess overall. Even David admitted the album was a mistake - until he had a deluxe edition to sell.
For me:
1. Come An' Get It 2. Slide It In 3. Ready An Willing 4. 1987 5. Saints And Sinners 6. Love Hunter 7. Trouble 8. Restless Heart 9. Forevermore 10. Slip Of The Tongue 11. Good To Be Bad 12. Snakebite EP 13. Flesh And Blood.
I would place solo stuff like White Snake, North Winds and certainly Coverdale/Page (among the top of Coverdale's career) and Into The Light above some of these WS albums if I was doing a full Coverdale list. I did a favorite songs from each album in another thread. Here is that list:
David Coverdale - White Snake
Blindman Goldies Place White Snake Time On My Side
David Coverdale - Northwinds
Northwinds Keep On Giving Me Love Queen Of Hearts Only My Soul
Whitesnake - Snakebite
Come On Steal Away
Whitesnake - Trouble
Love To Keep You Warm Trouble Lie Down
Whitesnake - Love Hunter
Love Hunter Long Way From Home Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues Help Me Through The Day
Whitesnake - Ready An' Willing
Sweet Talker Carry Your Load Ain't Gonna Cry No More She's A Woman Ready An' Willing
Whitesnake - Come And Get It
Come And Get It Child Of Babylon Girl Would I Lie To You Hit And Run To The Day I Die
Whitesnake - Saints And Sinners
Young Blood Victim Of Love Saints And Sinners Here I Go Again
Whitesnake - Slide It In
Slide It In Love Ain't No Stranger Slow An' Easy Gambler Give Me More Time Spit It Out
Whitesnake - 1987
Crying In The Rain Bad Boys Still Of The Night Straight For The Heart Don't Turn Away
Whitesnake - Slip Of The Tongue

Oh well. We differ on something for a change. I love it, even though it was so different from the Moody Marsden period. Dave was just chasing a guitar wizard to make them more current with the times. He admitted that he loved MTV and got caught up with the whole glamorous look of the hair metal scene aswell. The sound and production was slick and polished. I can’t fault it except for “Fool….”, it missed that “hook” of the original. Now to his “Into the light” album. Now that’s a beautiful album, I hold it very personally, cause not only did it Dave through difficult times, it got me through them too. It’s very close to me. Every track was amazing especially “Love is blind” (which I think is the best he’s ever written). So simple, but so moving and meaningful. Coverdale Page is simply epic on a grand scale. It’s criminal that hadn’t got a deluxe yet.
All up, Dave has got a great output. He’s not a great writer, he’s very predictable. The rhyming is very similar in almost every song “Night/right”, “Pain/again”, etc but it somehow works.
”Flesh n blood” I just could not get into it. The heavy breathe before each line was just annoying on every track, and the production was just awful.

I don't take issue with Whitesnake going hair metal, but Vai was just the wrong guitarist and the album was way overproduced, especially for 1989 and compared to 1987. It has similar soulless KISS Crazy Nights style production. There was talk that Coverdale was interested in Jake E. Lee. He would have been fantastic - can do the shredder thing and the awesome Badlands proves he was capable of doing the blues based hard rock, which WS still needed. Ya, I love Into The Light as well and Love Is Blind - I think I will pick that song for my song of the day. Coverdale/Page rules.

I had "Good to be bad " on today. I thought it was actually quite good. "Best years", "Lay down your love", "Summer rain" all great tunes.

I received “Northwinds” vinyl off discogs today. I’d never heard it before. It’s weird hearing him with a horn section on some songs, but man the title track and “Only my soul” are simply amazing.

Oh ya, those are fantastic songs. John Kalodner wanted Coverdale to do a Northwinds redo on Slip Of The Tongue as well as Ain't Gonna Cry No More, but David was against doing more redo's except for Fool For Your Loving.
