I came across this video and was wondering how many CD's, vinyl and even cassettes do you have - what is the extent of your physical media collection?
I probably have 400 CD's - that I never play anymore. It's all digital/MP3 listening now. I know the CD's are worth nothing now, but I can't bring myself to just toss them because of all the money I spent.
Got rid of any vinyl or the tons of cassettes I did have long ago.
I probably have around 800 DVDs. Those I still watch, but not as much as I used to given the streaming sources now.

Because they don't take up much space and I would probably have had to pay someone to take them at one point...and throwing them out didn't feel right. With cassettes being somewhat retro-cool again, I should maybe take them to a used music store and see if they'd give me $100 bucks or so in store credit for them. I could probably make a few hundred if I sold them on eBay myself, but it seems like such a pain in the ass to list them all and buy shipping materials, etc...

None. I went fully digital in 2015 (Apple Lossless) and never looked back.
I have an Apple Music subscription and every album I once had (plus a whole lot more) on an external hard drive.

Thousands.
I was a CD collector before streaming, and when people starting discarding their CDs, they gave them to me.
My uncle was a record promoter in Boston late 70's, and he gave us promos. There are vinyl records all over my place, which was noticed when I posted that Live To Win video doing chin-ups.
And yes, there are even some cassettes around. I put a Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson cassette in a recent video.

Didn't your sister work for a record label or something. All those family connections.

You didn't keep any? Even for nostalgic reasons like The Elder. I still have my Best Of The Solo Albums that I got for Christmas '81 (Mum used to sing me Mr. Make Believe as a lullaby when I was very little, but even then I refused to listen to the Peter Criss songs) and the KISS Killers LP that was a birthday gift the following year. Vinyl didn't appeal to me. My fine control is awful and I was terrified of dropping, scratching or breaking records. Cassettes were much safer. Over my 21 years of collecting CDs from 93-14, I bought and rebought so many of the damned things that it became ridiculous. Eventually I realised that I was accumulating stuff to compensate for a life that didn't satisfy me. When I moved house and had to get rid of them all in 2016, I felt a great weight lift from my shoulders. I still had the music and memories, though. That won't change.

Didn't your sister work for a record label or something. All those family connections. I'm sure I do. I loaned some money to a friend 30 years ago and he gave me records as collateral. That was when records had no value. One of them is 13th Floor Elevators, which was the early days of ZZ Top. My friend died in 2022, and he never paid back the loan. My uncle has all sorts of memorabilia, which I'll likely inherit. My sister worked at Rockefellers, which was a major club in the smooth jazz genre when it was huge. Her best friend, Rhonda, was a regional manager of DGC. I have literal crates of CDs and other promo items. That's actually how I got into smooth jazz - rooting through all the stuff she gave me.

We have about 1300 vinyl LPs. I might have 100 CDs left, but I couldn't say for sure. I've got little piles of them in places.
I never listen to CDs anymore. I only have a CD player in my car.
My home music, aka serious listening, is done on my turntable.
