While I *like* (meaning can endure or think is ok) many of his films, I think his last GREAT role was in Jackie Brown, followed closely by Heat...which is even a better role of course.

The diner scene is one for the ages. Have you see Righteous Kill - which also pairs De Niro and Pacino. That movie should have never been released.

Yeah, I don't thinnk he's done a thing worth watching since Jackie Brown, Wag The Dog came out the same year, that was good too. Managed to completely avoid Righteous Kill, knew that'd be crap. Pacino has also had a long string of crap films. Problem with Deniro and Pacino is they're working with directors who think they're gods and won't challenge 'em. Well, that and they just get offered really shitty roles. Well De Niro, Pacino and Pesci will be doing Scorcese's The Irishman - yes a mafia film, so I am glad that Righteous Kill won't be the last film that De Niro and Pacino did together. I really liked De Niro in What Just Happened - but then I love most any film about the movie business. The book by Art Linson is great.

I watched Donnie Brasco on TV yesterday. Reminded me how great Pacino could be before he decided that every role had to be just him shouting a lot.
