Who here has seen this film and what did you think of it? I love it and have watched it quite a bit since it's release, but the reason I'm bringing it up is the inclusion of numerous KISS songs.
BTW since I'm a filthy pirate this movie is on a disc with "Hot Tub Time Machine" and "Zak & Miri Make a Porno" a disc we rely on for something to put on in the background that will still make us laugh no matter how much we watch it.

Saw it once, thought it was okay, don't remember much though. Hot Tub Time Machine was a big disappointment, thought it was going to be much better than it is. And Zack & Miri is what finally convinced me that Kevin Smith was done (yeah, it took that long).

Wow, harsh man. I had no expectations for HTTM since it's a movie called... Hot Tub Time Machine. So I was very pleasantly surprised. As for Zack & Miri, I liked it from the beginning and still continue to.

As for Zack & Miri, I liked it from the beginning and still continue to. Well, yeah, I knew HTTM was gonna be just a stupid comedy, but the trailers/commercials I had seen for it made me think it was going to be a lot funnier and the concept sounded good. Z&M, I dunno. Has its moments, but I was almost disappointed to see Kevin going back to the "typical KS comedy" well after Jersey Girl flopped. JG isn't a great movie by any means, but I was willing to cut it some slack because he was obviously trying to move away into something different. Afterwards it's like he just lost his confidence and ran back to the dick-n-pussy-jokes, only this time without the added benefit of having the old "Jersey Trilogy" cast around (which is really all that saved Clerks II for me).

See I've loved most of his movies, with the big exceptions of Jersey Girl and Chasing Amy. If you gave him some slack for trying something different with JG I HIGHLY reccomend his newest one Red State, it's actually a good movie unlike JG and it's not dick-n-pussy jokes.

I liked Role Models - but not sure if I'd watch it again.
Had so many friends ask if I had seen the film because of the KISS references in there. I told them I was way ahead of 'em. ;D

Dute it honestly gets funnier the second or third watch. Just that one part with Sean William Scott explaining the plunge of death amerian eagles do when mating still puts me in stitches every time www.anyclip.com/movies/role-models/blktJun22htmb/#!quotes/

Perhaps one day I'll revisit but at this stage I have a stack of unseen movies I need to watch first.

Also without HTTM we would never have heard the ultimate line "If I was trying to kill myself I'd be awesome at it, fucking shotgun to the dick!"

I actually dug this movie and my wife loves it - we have seen it a few times now.
Zakk and Miri is terrible though - Smith was trying to do Apatow with that one and he failed.

Yay! I was thinking that Role Models would get no Freewheeler love, and that'd just be a crying shame! I guess I can understand why folks wouldn't like Z&M, but I'm an unashamed Kevin Smith fan. As stated earlier he's only made two movies I didn't enjoy, Chasing Amy (which many laud as his best, just not for me) and Jersey Girl. I even loved Clerks 2. Fucking Elias makes me almost pee myself every time "Did Randall just call Mr Dante a nigger?"* *It's a direct quote, I'm not being racist I promise!

That's what I meant about he seemed to lose his way for good after Jersey Girl - for all its flaws, it's still unquestionably a "Kevin Smith movie." Meanwhile not only was he aping Aptow with Z&M, but I always felt like Clerks 2 felt like he was somehow doing a pale imitation of himself and what a "Kevin Smith movie" is supposed to be like. Something just felt a little off about it to me, though I can't quite put a finger on what. Still haven't seen Red State, though I've been meaning to get around to it someday.
