What boggles my mind is that they'd hand in such a potential cash cow to someone with a horrible track record like Joss Whedon. I sense disaster with this one. I think they chose him, because supposedly he understands geek more than most directors. He will probably do everything in his power to make sure that the movie is awesome - just on a fan level. Plus he is loved by the fanboy community. It will make a ton of coin, even if it's bad. They almost have nothing to lose.

I'd have had JJ Abrams take a crack at this. I loved his take on the reboot of Star Trek. I think he could handle this level. Bryan Singer can also tackle the group hero film.

LOL. Well, I liked his two X-Men films and The Avengers is that kind of thing. It's TOUGH tackling a group project like this. Lots to juggle.

Everybody will talk like a character on Buffy. I guess you are not part of the fanboys that love Firefly/Serenity.
