Do you prefer Seinfeld or Curb? Or neither? I gotta go with Seinfeld, but I love Larry David on Curb.

I've never seen CYE, but have heard it's good. Being a massive Seinfeld fan though, I'd still lean towards it regardless.

I'm gonna go the unpopular route and go curb. I just really like it a lot more than I liked seinfeld. Dunno why.

I'd probably have to leans toward Seinfeld just for how well the show holds up to repeat viewing, but Curb is every bit as good as sometimes even funnier. Leave it to LED to not like Seinfeld.

I've never seen Curb. I've seen a few episodes of Seinfeld. Doesn't do much for me. I just don't understand your logic behind this. What do you want in a 80/90's sitcom? Well written and George is just hilarious. It's not the show, it's you.

I just have no use or need for an 80s/90s sitcom period. I've found random bits amusing. I enjoy the George character. Seinfeld himself I never found funny and his character did nothing for me. Kramer is your typical overused character written with the intent of being funny that never is, a Jim J. Bullock for the 90s. The female character (can't remember her name Elaine?) was the definition of a horrible selfish person and inherently unlikeable. Not my thing. Kramer has some really great and really funny scenes over the course of the series. I don't find Jerry funny as a comedian, but he is enjoyable on the show. I like Elaine too. But it's all about George for me. Funny enough, in the real world - I would be friends with these people. I wonder what that says about me.

Both are superb.
I enjoy Curb more because of the foul story lines within the freedom of cable TV...

Well they kept ringing the bell. Just watched " Mango " last night. The Btte Midler episode and The episode with Kramer looking for the Pigmen come to mind. Kramer's ecitement at the mere mention that Bette will be there at the baseball charity game is great and gets me everytime without fail. The Seinfeld character sets up so much of the gold that happen's. Roundtine ! Sorry Heyman but i can't take your question seriously as very few things in the history of television are better than Seinfeld least of all curb your enthusiasm. I Love Lucy being one of the very few exception's that come to mind immediately. SEINFELD or I LOVE LUCY Now that's a worthy debateable question.

First post on here , so be gentle.
I've got to go with Curb , although that is probably because I had not watched Seinfeld with the same enthusiasm . Seinfeld is wonderfully written and acted , but Larry David must be one of the most watchable people on tv .....ever............. I was hooked after a few episodes , so have bought every Curb box-set , and find they are also very re-watchable ......sometimes watching up to 5 episodes in one go !
So many epic moments , but to watch Larry David accost strangers on the street to help him change a flat tyre is one ov TV's funniest ever moments.

Was in Canter's last night and Liz Sheraton (Seinfeld's mother on the show) was in the booth next to ours, fuck me she's got one foot in the grave. Had no idea who she was until our server said something. Couldn't walk on her own. She couldn't walk on her own ? Yeah , I'm like that when I eat there too !!!!

Love Seinfeld, but Larry David is an absolute comedic genius and the cast is AMAZING.

Not more amazing than Seinfeld though surely ? I'm going to take this as another case where you've never actually seen Curb but just assume it's not very good anyway, right? Anyway, yeah, I'd say the cast is every bit as talented as the Seinfeld cast was, albeit perhaps in different ways. If you keep in mind that Larry David is George Costanza (character and George's mannerisms were based on Larry, many of George's storylines were things that actually happened to Larry, etc.), you can almost look at Curb as some kind of alternate-timeline spinoff where where George moved to California, became wildly successful and now has to deal with everything that comes with that on a day-to-day basis. Either way, it's a show you should watch. If you liked Seinfeld, you'll like Curb, really no two ways about it. (Just avoid the awful edited-for-TV-syndication versions assuming those ever made it to Australia. I think LD eventually had them pulled from the air here in the States, which was probably a wise idea.)

A funny story that actually happened to you is one thing another thing alltogether bringing that too life. Remember the seinfeld episode where the bizzarro world can you imagine seinfeld if that where the actual seinfeld cast and not the cast we came to love.

Kramer was based on a neighbour of LD going by that logic. A funny story that actually happened to you is one thing another thing alltogether bringing that too life. Indeed though, the vast majority of the Seinfeld plots came directly from Larry or Jerry's lives (or from other writers' in the later seasons). You lose Jerry's input, but otherwise with Curb it's that exact same mastery of turning the real into a funny half-hour, and once you start watching it you'll get the sense that Larry probably contributed more to the scripts than Seinfeld did. By the way if you didn't know, pretty much the entirety of Curb's seventh season centers around a Seinfeld reunion show, features all the main cast members and ultimately culminates in seeing what's basically a brand-new Seinfeld episode by the end of the season. Might be a good place to start if you want to see the old cast together again, though you'll be missing a bit of backstory from the previous season regarding Larry's divorce.
