Foo Fighter Dave Grohl is reportedly working quietly on a documentary about Sound City Studios — where ‘Nevermind‘ and several other classic albums where recorded.
Dave Grohl is well known as a rock vocalist, guitarist, drummer, comedian, and just all around kick ass dude. Lesser known are his directorial abilities, which we may get to experience soon enough.
In a recent interview with Artisan News, REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin spilled some details about Grohl’s as-of-yet unannounced project:
“Dave is working on this project based on a studio that we all used to work at — where they recorded ‘Nevermind’ — and I know that it meant a lot to a lot of artists. So Dave is just kind of putting together something to get the stories that all the artists had about that studio.”
Cronin mentioned that Dave had contacted him about his work at Sound City Studios and mentioned several times that he probably shouldn’t be talking about the project. Aside from Nirvana and REO Speedwagon, the Van Nuys, California studio also produced recordings from Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Willy Nelson, and Eric Clapton.
There is no word on a release date for the upcoming documentary, in fact, Grohl hasn’t even announced it yet according to Cronin. Dave is currently on tour with Foo Fighters in support of their latest studio album ‘Wasting Light’.
