I'm really concerned more with ability than fitness. Yes, I know the President is a powerful man, he sets an example, etc...but we already put too much emphasis on things that don't amount to much and not enough on good leadership. If someone's a great leader and the person for the job, that's really the most important aspect...not how pretty or well-spoken or fit they are. Ripped abs doesn't make you a great leader, sorry. Even if it promotes a good healthy lifestyle in an un-fit America. Right now we need QUALITY LEADERSHIP FIRST, in whatever form that comes.
Contrarily some of our most historically admired Presidents had health issues that in today's "we have to see his urine test results" society probably would never get elected, from Kennedy and his often debilitating back problems to FDR's Polio and wheelchair confinement. Christ on a stick, Roosevelt would NEVER get elected today. Fucking FACT. Most of the country didn't even know he sat in a wheelchair. Now every micro-fiber out of place on a president's suit is under scruitiny.
I really doubt we'd elect another Taft-like leader. We're too hung up on stupid shit, which is why Americans are like distracted puppies watching squirrels run around. We can't keep our eye on the important stuff for all the periphery.

Doesn't matter. The American political system is a mess that needs not a house cleaning, but a massive overhaul.
