season 2 starts tonight! season 1 marathon all day.....get the DVRs ready if you missed it the first time around. comes on the AMC channel. if you didn't think it was possible to remain interested in a series about zombies, think again....the writing is light-years ahead of your typical zombie fodder.

I thought the writing was the weak spot of season 1. I was actually glad to hear it had gotten an overhaul.

ehh, i didn't mind it so much. then again, before watching season 1, the last zombie flicks i watched were romero's last two offerings, so the bar was pretty low going in....
between this & 'dexter', my sundays are booked solid!

It's not critical. I still watched and enjoyed last year and I'm back again for season 2. But if they could improve anywhere, it would be with the writing/characters. Still fun though.

i've got it DVR'd, but i haven't watched it yet.....got off to a late start watching 'dexter', and it was almost midnight before i finished it. hopefully i can watch it tonight, but my wife is a big fan of 'the sing-off', so it's probable it'll be tomorrow, barring a miracle....
what's a horror story without "spot the cliche", 'tho? LOL

I've just downloaded and watched Season 1 and Season 2 first 3 episodes.
It's a pretty good show but it really drags in spots. The story progression really needs a kick up the arse at times.

Season 2 = better than season 1 I'm tending to agree. So much for the geek theory that the show would collapse without Darabont. The way the writing was shaping up that season I couldn't see how a firing of the staff wouldn't help. At least the show's producers could see it wasn't the series' strong suit. Of course those merely tuning in for "cool zombie killings" (like it's a goddamn video game) are pretty much thinking the opposite...that the show has really started to sink.

Plenty of Zombie action in the last episode, but definitely I think one of the series highlights was the tension of the Zombie herd on the freeway, I'll take something beautifully done like that over what's essentially a scene out of a videogame on film. Why can't we have them both, pal? I love this show.

i ended up missing several earlier eps from season 2 (unfortunately, they're not available on demand over here, so i'm holding out hope for a 'walking dead' marathon in the near future), but i've caught the last 5 or 6 eps. pacing-wise, it feels much different than season 1, but that's not a bad thing. one simple scene that quietly captured the situation at large was when rick & shane were having a conversation while taking a car ride, and one of them looks through the window & sees a zombie walking alone in a field.....kinda served as a reminder that "oh yeah, that's right, i forgot....the world is pretty fucked up right now". i could just sense things were brewing for a major smackdown, and the end of the most recent episode definitely suggests the season finale is gonna be a slobberknocker. call me a dirtbag, but i wouldn't show any remorse if carl got served up as a zombie appetizer....fucking dirty harry wannabe ;D
anyone watch 'talking dead'? pretty entertaining post-episode discussion with random characters from the show, and some interesting guests as well, from scott ian to kevin smith & in between. laurie holden is supposed to be on the finale episode....i also dug her on 'the shield'.
