Has anyone seen Drive? I keep hearing it's worth watching. Awesome movie - highly recommended. But just so you know, it is a drama. I think some people saw the trailer and thought it was Fast and Furious or something. It's not an action movie. I look forward to your feedback if you do check it out.

UNderworld Awakenings 3D
I enjoyed it, but I'm a fan of the series. Not sure it would be that good for someone coming in cold. The 3D wasn't needed, though. Didn't really add much.

UNderworld Awakenings 3D I enjoyed it, but I'm a fan of the series. Not sure it would be that good for someone coming in cold. The 3D wasn't needed, though. Didn't really add much. I saw it without the 3D, I ranted on the FAQ about how they are shoving it down our collective throats. There was only one or two showings not in 3D, and they were at the beginning of the day. Anyway, I think it was my least favorite. I like the series and lore.

More cable selections:
Rear Window (1954) - I'd never got around to actually watching this mainly because I felt like I'd already seen it due to how often it's been parodied/referenced over the years... and I was pretty much right in thinking that I already knew how it played out. Still, it's obviously genius, and whether in the hands of Hitchcock or Simpsons writers the story sucks you in.
Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie (2012) - This is showing on HDNet for some reason, even though it's not in theaters yet. I've never really been a fan of the Tim & Eric Awesome Show on Adult Swim - maybe because I've always been smoked-up when I've seen it and I can never decide whether I'm too high for it or not nearly high enough. If you're not familiar with it, it's a 12-minute sketch show that's pretty much usually the strangest thing on TV, maybe ever. The movie follows a linear storyline instead, and while it still has a little too much of the "being gross/weird simply for the sake of being gross or weird" stuff that the show has, it's also got several laughs. Still stupid, but I enjoyed it more than I expected to.
Problem Child (1990) - Yeah, Problem Child. It ain't great cinema, but I liked something about it when I saw it as a kid in the theater and I find I still kinda like it now. Great Ritter-y performance from John Ritter, and Michael Richards gives a great Richards-y performance too, minus the N-bombs. The fact that the movie exists at all is rather remarkable to me in a way - can you really imagine a PG-rated kids' film these days that centers around a kid whose hero is a serial killer he writes letters to frequently hoping to be just like him?

Unauthorized and Proud of It: The Story of Rock 'n' Roll Comics (2005) - Very good documentary about the infamous "Rock n Roll Comics" line from the late '80s and early '90s. Lots of good stories about how the company and the books came together, and even better ones about the artists who had comics written about them and how they received them. Bonus - Gene and KISS are briefly highlighted and Gene comes off as not an asshole for once. In a recorded phone call he places to the office he says that his lawyers have been encouraging him to sue for unauthorized use of the logo/makeup, but that he thinks the comics are just too good to do that and wants to work with them on an authorized book instead. Definitely worth watching if you can find it, dunno if it's on Netflix, I caught it on some barely-existent channel called FreeSpeech TV.

Harry Potter: Prisoner Of Azkabhan
I went down to Sydney for a few days last week and we went to the Harry Potter Exhibition and it was interesting to see the props and costumes from the movies.

Just Go With It.
I liked it. The last Adam Sandler film I watched (Grown Ups) was a letdown so this made up for it.
I thought Aniston and Sandler worked well together.

Finally put myself through that which is Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star this weekend.
You ever find yourself actually being disappointed with something because it isn't as awful as you expected? That's what happened here. Oh, don't get me wrong, it's a piece of crap...but the reviews suggested that it was one of those rare pieces of crap that's so astoundingly wrongheaded in every single aspect that you can't even imagine what the filmmakers and cast were thinking, let alone how it got released. This isn't one of those, though. It's a pretty standard Happy Madison feature.
God help me, I even laughed once or twice, and the reviews pretty much all said that every attempt the film makes at comedy crashes due to a tonal problem...but again, not so much really. They crash because they're not funny jokes. The movie's just a shitty Sandler-penned dirty comedy, not really anything more or less.

Clash Of The Titans. Set pieces were entertaining, but it felt so small scale in terms of the world the movie takes place in. I don't know, it entertained for an hour & 40 minutes, but you just don't feel like you've witnessed an epic of man vs the gods. an odd experience.

I'll be going to see Titanic when it's re-released in theatres. This will also be my first time watching a film in 3D (yes, I'm behind the times I know).
Disappointed over the weekend as there was a limited run of Enter The Dragon in theatres but the session times were too late and it didn't pan out. That would have been cool to experience on the big screen.

I actually despised the film before I saw it. I kept telling my friends, "We know what happens. It sinks!" Then I saw it and I enjoyed the film. There's one part that frustrates me though - when the ship is sinking and Jack + Rose have made their way to the stern, she turns to him and says, "Jack, this is where we first met!" Are you kidding me? There are people dying around you, screaming and fearing for their lives and all you can talk about is the place you first met?!? I hate that scene.

In all seriousness, the re-release is a nice little tribute to those who did perish almost 100 years ago on the Titanic.

Over the weekend...
The Doors - Holy shit, this is awful, isn't it? I loved it when I was a Doors-obsessed teen, realized it wasn't all that good in my 20s, but I hadn't seen it in many years...and I probably shoulda kept it that way. I generally like Stone's stuff, but this is practically a glorified made-for-VH1 movie.
Falling Down - Well, the last hour or so anyway. The girlfriend was sleeping for the first half so I kept the volume down so low I could barely hear it and wound up looking at late-90s issues of Rolling Stone I found in the shed at her house instead. Still, y'know, pretty good flick.

The Tree Of Life - Brilliant, damn shame Malick doesn't work too often, he can do no wrong. I have kind of avoided this film, only because the response has been love or totally hate. The people that hate it say that the story doesn't really flow or make sense with a beginning, middle and end and it's just all over the place with an hour or more that could be cut. I certainly respect your opinion - so I will check it out, but what do you say in response to the hate comments. Can you understand why one might hate the film and I don't mean Joe Public.
