47 KISS songs to Van Halen 26 across the first 3 years. I can easilly cull those 47 songs into 3 great KISS album's that more than rival the vaunted first 3 of Van Halen... EASILLY !! I think the KISS album's stand alone regardless against any van halen album but it's fair enough to combine the KISS album's into a two headed beast in those initial year's to compare with Van Halen. KISS wins hands down. WTF? The number of songs means nothing. What happened in past decades means nothing. This stuff means and contributes nothing to how these albums will perform or anything else. Neither of them will perform and both will be criticised by Rollingstone especially KISS. Did i leave something out ?

Van Halen (s/t) VS Love Gun (KISS didn't have a full 1978 studio album) - Winner? Van Halen Van Halen II VS Dynasty - Winner? Van Halen Women and Children First VS Unmasked - Winner? Van Halen Fair Warning VS The Elder - Winner? Van Halen
It isn't until you get Diver Down VS Creatures of the Night that it gets really close.
Now KISS is my favorite band, but I have no problem admitting that Van Halen's albums beat out KISS' albums in the same year. Those were some phenomenal albums that Van Halen put out. If KISS could have gone to one album per year the quality of those albums would have also been phenomenal (if you combined the best from each album KISS/HTH, DTK/Destroyer, RARO/LG).
The new VH album may very well be better than Sonic Boom. That doesn't change the fact that I love Sonic Boom. I may like Monster more than the new VH album. Who knows?
So what? Both bands are great, and I'm glad that we're getting new albums from each of them this year!

How much fuel have the Village People got left in the tank? ;D ;D ;D I saw an interview with the Indian a few years back and he said they were thinking of recording a new album but worried that they would be seen as a joke...bit late to start worrying about that Phillipe, ol' mate!!!

A bit difficult when the mastermind behind the group is no longer around. YMCA is one of the greatest anthems and greatest live songs ta boot. " Can't stop the music " ranks right up there for me it's just pure flawless pop. " Macho Man " is just rediculously great can't deny that song as great.

Modern POP is a joke so the Village people should fit right in ! ;D
It can't get any worse and any new Village People's album will be atleast decent by comparison to todays pop.
I'd love to hear new COP songs !

What about those Sex Pistols shit loads of fuel left there As usual, you missed my point. You claim VH have 'more in the tank' and their CD will be better than Kiss' CD for it. By that reckoning, any other bands that have 'more in the tank' than VH will do better too. any band that's th problem. I'm talking about specific bands with specific important members not new song writing teams or band member's. The tank only applies to those who have been directly responsible for the use of that tank previously not so with all the examples you gave. Van Halen have not released new stuff for eons with the classic line up there should be plenty of fuel and more than KISS which by the way has a line up that begins with limited fuel in the first place.

Monter better be fucking amazing, because ADKT shows KISS/Sonic Boom how the big boys do it. Get out of town. Monster won't be amazing, won't need to be, it'll top ADKT quite easilly. 5 half decent songs should do it and KISS are capable of that. Gene Simmons is in fine form he'll top ADKT on his own for christ sake. KISS dynamics as always will blow Van Halen away, more than one singer automatically gives KISS the edge over Van Halen. ADKT wears thin real fast. Van Halen are mostly a one trick pony it it shows all over ADKT.

Again, you don't know diddly-shit about music. Dynamics wise yes it does, how can you argue the KISS dynamics of which one of those is multiple lead vocals on any album or live in concert is superior to Van Halen. Bon Jovi have a better chance of the mega 80's bands to catch KISS than Van Halen has. Have you got the Van Halen album yet ? or still just 30 sec snippets ? Hey based on 30 second snippets it's a great album problem is with the rest of the 4 mins of the songs. There's highlights on most songs of which most can be attributed to harking back to classic Van Halen moments. I know my music enough to hear what Van Halen are doing on the new album. Come on man surely you expect better than that. Imagine how good Monster would actually be with Kulick on it instead.... the mind boggles.

Because the mix on the last album wasn't as great as it could have been? Because having four lead singers doesn't mean shit? KISS has a good sound live but then again, so did Van Halen.
In what?
Snippets, just three more days.
And?
You don't say.
From you? No.
I haven't heard anything from Monster yet so how would you or I know that?

Never was a huge fan of Van Halen, so virtually every Kiss album is better than every Van Halen album. I expect Monster to continue that trend.

Well let's imagine EVERY KISS song sung by only one of the KISS member's shall we ........................................................... Still of the same opinion with that mental picture in mind ?

Well seeing as how VH has always outsold KISS, I don't see why its such a big deal now. Good thing AC/DC isn't releasing one too, or VH would be outsold also.....in the end, who cares?? I am happy we are getting new music from both VH and KISS. I really don't care who sells what as long as I get mine. So how VH sold 30 years ago is how they will sell now? Tears For Fears needs a new album out. Lets face it, VH can still make some classic VH, Kiss is too far gone. Actually, I would love a new Tears for Fears album, TBH. I love them.

So how does Van Halen compare to KISS on their comeback albums - songwriting, performance and production?

So how does Van Halen compare to KISS on their comeback albums - songwriting, performance and production? Imo they are pretty equal with a slight edge to Van Halen. Mostly because VH had a couple of killer songs which sonic boom lacked and also because Eddie is really a whiz on lead guitar that lifts some of the less good songs up a notch.

So how does Van Halen compare to KISS on their comeback albums - songwriting, performance and production? Van Halen so far has blown KISS away, better production, better songs, and not trying to FORCE themselves to sound like they did in the early 80's. Yes you could make the argument that they used old demos but none of it sounded contrived to me at all, unlike Paul trying to write his own 80's anthem on most of his material. Only song Paul hit it out of the park with was MDD.

If Paul delivered songs with the punch and strength of MDD it would be great. I love both albums. ;D

And that's why Gene by far had the strongest material of the group. (Although that's not saying much, can't get into Hot And Cold and I think Animal's a dud)
